Interviewer: Mummy, could you share with us the secret for always looking so, amazingly good at all times? Response: The Lord has been wonderful to me. His grace has kept me looking good. His words in 3 John 1:2 “ Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers” give encouragement for healthy living. God has granted me His abundance in health resulting in quality life. He desires that His children should be healthy. I give Him all the glory and honour.
Interviewer: What are some of the most important lessons you have learnt about maintaining your health, which you could share with us? Response: I have always put my habits in check. The importance of eating right to stay fit and healthy came forcefully to me as I need to have good health to be able to serve the Lord to further His kingdom. Without good health, we are of no value to work of the ministry. Our temples are His vehicles that move us around and vessels through which we minister. If our temples are weak, our ability to be a conduit of God’s love and hope is limited. The scripture in Romans 12:1-2 says” I beseech you therefore, brethren by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect, will of God”. So avoid the following habits: Habit of overeating: Avoid “junk food”, no eating between meals but if you must, make it fruits and vegetables Habit of idleness: ensure you engage yourself with things that are meaningful. Avoid being a busy body. It does not promote good health. Habit of anxiety: do not stress yourself with worry and anxiety. Cast your care on the Lord. 1 Peter 5:7 “to cast all your care on Him, He cares for you”. Remember that you are what you eat, so eat well and rightly too. Determine to follow this checklist:
Do not eat too much meat. Avoid fatty food. Avoid many sweets Do not take lots of salt. Avoid processed foods Reduce eating super sweet cereals Avoid many bakery products Avoid drinking too many highly sweetened fruit juices and soft drinks. Eat more grains. Drink plenty of water at least 8 glasses daily. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables Do not overcook your food. Exercise regularly.
Interviewer: Could you give us some tips on how to keep a joyful countenance during stressful situation? Response: Rejoice always in the Lord. No matter the storms of life, trust in the Lord who knows no impossibility. Praise Him always. The Bible says” A merry heart doeth good like a machine, but a broken spirit drieth the bones”. Proverbs 17:22. Avoid negative thoughts think positively “Fix your thoughts on what is true, good and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely, and dwell on the fine, good things in others. Think about all you can praise God for and be glad about it. Philippians 4:8
Interviewer: What would you say you know about living a happy and successful life that you don't know when you were younger? Response: Today, I know that a perfect health goes beyond the physical realms of life. Man is spirit, soul and body, and these three areas work together to determine our overall state of health. Poor health in any one area affects other realms of our lives. Our spiritual condition affects our state of health. It is clear that a healthy spiritual condition offers a measure of protection against ill health, so it is important to have a healthy spirit. People who are spiritually strong and healthy reflect it in their lives. They have an observable radiance on their faces, a sparkle in their eyes, and a high level of energy and vitality. Their friendly enthusiasm and free flowing smiles set them apart from the average person. It is important to concentrate on spiritual matters, be empathetic about Christian work. Spiritual food (word of God) not only satisfies us but also makes our souls strong and beautiful. Study the word on a regular basis and it will give you plenty of good food for positive thinking; eliminating fear, worry and stress from our lives. Pray always for prayer is the secret to true peace. “ be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God, that surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” Philippians 4:6-7. Our mental performance is greatly affected by our thoughts and our thoughts are affected by our spiritual habits. Health is the heritage of the children of God and it is appropriated through faith in Christ who is the foundation of life, peace, joy and good health. The Lord will bless you with abundance in all areas of life as you make moves to take good care of your health in order to serve Him better.
